Opus One 2015 is a remarkably powerful and voluptuous vintage, famously described as "an iron fist in a velvet glove" due to its muscular structure wrapped in a seductively plush texture. Driven by an intense drought and a record-breaking hot summer in Napa Valley, yields were drastically reduced but resulted in extraordinary fruit concentration. Artfully blended in a classic Bordeaux style with 81% Cabernet Sauvignon along with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, the wine features a bolder 14.5% - 15% ABV that delivers a wonderfully full-bodied and warm profile. When served at the ideal temperature of 16°C – 18°C and decanted for 90–120 minutes, Opus One 2015 reveals a noble deep garnet-purple hue alongside complex aromas of violet, black tea, and ripe berries integrated with baking spices and cocoa powder. Boasting firm, fine-grained tannins and juicy freshness, this vintage—which earned 98/100 points from James Suckling—is now over a decade old, drinking exceptionally well today with the structure to cellar gracefully through 2040 – 2045.
